Pandemic Restrictions placed in Bihar

On 24th May, 2021, the Government of Bihar decided to place certain restrictions to contain the spread of the virus:

1) Since the restrictions placed on the movement of people affected the poor, relief will be provided to them.

2) Restrictions were imposed for a period of three weeks on 4th May and 13th May, 2021. This is to be extended for a period of one more week until 1st June, 2021.

3) All Government offices will be closed except essential services such as District Administration, Police, Civil Defense, Fire Brigade etc.

4) Shops and Establishments will be closed with the following exceptions: (a) Banking, insurance and ATMs; (b) Industrial and Manufacturing establishments; (c) All types of construction work; (d) All activities and courier services relating to e-commerce; (e) Agricultural and related works; (f) Telecommunication and internet services; (g) Petrol pumps and LPGs; (h) Essential food items. The Public Distribution System shall be open from 6:00AM to 10:00AM in urban areas and 8:00AM to 12:00PM in rural areas; (i) Building Materials and Construction related hardware can be open from 6:00AM to 10:00AM on Mondays and Thursdays.

5) Hospitals, medical shops, pharmacies and labs shall function as usual.

6) Unnecessary movement to public places are prohibited

7) Vehicles will remain closed with the following exceptions: (a) public transport shall operate on 50% seating capacity and only individuals who have to travel long distances in trains or flights may use public transport; (b) Medical vehicles, ambulances and other vehicles for health purposes; (c) Government vehicles of relevant departments;(d) Private vehicles which have an e-pass; (e) Private vehicles on inter-state route to other States; (e) Candidates for interviews organized by health department to employ health workers.

8) A fine will be imposed for non-compliance of the above.

9) All schools/colleges/coaching institutions will remain closed. No examinations will be conducted.

10) Restaurants and food-shops will remain closed as well. Home delivery is permissible from 9AM to 9PM.

11) All religious places as well as social, political, religious, sporting and entertainment events will be closed/prohibited.
