Karnataka issues protocol to be followed in CCC for hypoxic patients

On 22nd May, 2021 the Government of Karnataka issued the protocol to be followed in Covid Care Centres for hypoxic patients. This covers patients with oxygen saturation between 88-94% and hence requiring oxygen support. Some of the measures have been reproduced below-

  • Start on Oxygen Support immediately as appropriate

  • Give a nebulisation with Budesonide respule, immediately

  • Advice the patient for awake proning

  • Secure an IV line immediately

  • Look for any abnormal signs and symptoms such as worsening of clinical symptoms

  • Increased work of breathing increased respiratory rate
