Jammu Kashmir issues advisory on ‘Mucor Mycosis’

On 24th May, 2021 the Government of Jammu and Kashmir issued an advisory on Mucor Mycosis (Black Fungus). Some of the details have been reproduced below-

Symptoms to watch out for-

  1. Stuffy nose or brown nasal discharge

  2. Facial pain and swelling

  3. Tooth ache, loose teeth

  4. Redness, pain or swelling of eye

  5. Fever, shortness of breath, coughing, headache

  6. Altered sensorium

  7. Double or blurred vision

  8. Bloody vomits

Who is at risk-

  1. People with uncontrolled diabetes

  2. Long standing oxygen therapy during COVID treatment

  3. Treated for COVID 19 with steroids/ immunomodulators

  4. With co-morbidities (post transplant/ malignancy)
