WB Government issues protocols for the usage and allocation of Remdesivir and Tocilizumab

The West Bengal Government on 3 May 2021 has issued the following protocols for the usage and allocation of Remdesivir and Tocilizumab in the State:

1.    The drug companies shall allocate this drug to Private COVID Hospitals/ Nursing Homes on the basis of Critical Care Unit (CCU) bed strength and occupancy rate.

2.    The drug will be sold by the companies only to the COVID Hospital/ Nursing Home and will not be sold to the individual patient against any doctors/ hospital prescription.

3.    Hospitals and nursing homes shall not give Remdesivir prescriptions to patients. It is their responsibility to arrange it for the patient.

4.    Allocation to Government COVID Hospital will be done by CMS on availability of Remdesivir and Tocilizumab on the basis of CCU bed strength and occupancy rate.
