Himachal issues order regarding denial of services for want of a COVID test

On 10th May, 2021 the Government of Himachal Pradesh issued an order clarifying that essential medical services cannot be denied to a patient for want of a COVID test. Insisting on negative test results for services like dialysis, cardiac care, etc. may result in delay in treatment that could lead to avoidable increase in morbidity and mortality for those requiring this care.

Relevant extracts of the said order have been reproduced below-

“Hence, you are requested to inform all the hospitals and health care service providers under your control not to delay the provision of the essential health services to the public for want of COVID negative test result.”
