Madras HC directs state to carry out immediate vaccination of homeless, pavement dwellers and other such vulnerable persons

The High Court recognised that the homeless and less privileged including pavement dwellers and persons who slip through the cracks in the system may not be registered at all and are not protected against the virus. The High Court therefore, directed all Corporations, Municipalities and Town Panchayats to be sensitized by the department to ensure that these vulnerable persons be regarded as candidates for immediate urgent vaccination since they stand more exposed than other citizens to contract the virus.
