Status of Vaccinations in Chhattisgarh

The Government of India allowed for States to purchase vaccine doses for persons between 18-44. The Government of Chhattisgarh sent a demand for 75 lakh vaccines but did not receive anything until April 30, 2021.

On May 1, 2021, 1.5 lakh doses reached Raipur. However, there was severe vaccine shortage and the Government could not chalk out an adequate vaccine plan.

Further, the COWIN app requires a smart phone and internet connection, something that is not accessible to a lot of people.

Therefore, the Government of Chhattisgarh has decided to prioritize vaccinating Antyodaya, APL and BPL members of the population, before vaccinating the others.
