Immediate release of pension to the family of a government employee who loses his or her life due to COVID -19 infection

On 8th June, 2021 the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) in the Union Ministry of Personnel issued a notification stating the following-

  • Payment of provisional family pension and also provisional death gratuity immediately on receipt of a claim for family pension and death certificate from the eligible family member, without waiting for forwarding of the family pension case to Pay & Accounts Office (PAO)

  • The Pension Payment Order (PPO) for family pension is issued and disbursement of regular family pension is commenced by the Bank not later than one month of the receipt of the claim for family pension.
