Gauhati High Court directs State Govt. to carry out vaccination of shopkeepers on a priority basis

The Kohima Bench of the High Court of Gauhati acknowledged that regular testing and vaccination of shopkeepers including vegetable vendors should be taken up on priority basis, keeping in view the nature of spread of the virus.

During the hearing the State Govt. also assured the High Court that vaccination of taxi drivers would also be taken up on a priority basis.

Relevant extracts of the order have been reproduced below-

โ€œMr. N. Mozhui submits that testing facilities have been enhanced and are being made available at all the medical facilities in the districts and subdivision headquarters. The learned counsel also submits that vaccination to the service providers like taxi driver have been taken up and he is hopeful that the same would be completed soon. Keeping in view the way how the virus is spreading we are of the view that regular testing and vaccination of shopkeepers including vegetable vendors should be taken up on priority basis.โ€
