Financial Assistance of Rs. 5 lakh for families of journalists

On 27th May, 2021 the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, approved the Journalist Welfare Scheme (JWS) which provides financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to the family under the following circumstances-

  • Death of the journalist

  • Permanent disability that renders the journalist incapable of earning a livelihood

The Committee is also considering applications of those journalists who have succumbed to reasons apart from COVID-19
