Andhra Govt. sanctions Rs.10,00,000/- to each child who has become an orphan due to COVID-19

On 19th May, 2021 the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh announced that it would be providing an ex gratia amount of Rs. 10,00,000 to each child who has become an orphan due to COVID-19. The conditions for availing this have been given below-

  • Only Children upto age of 18 years as on date of application are eligible for the ex-gratia.

  • Children whose both parents died due to COVID-19.

  • Children with single parent (one parent already expired earlier) who has died due to COVID-19.

  • The family income is below the poverty line and has a PDS Card to certify the same.

  • There should a positive test result indicating the prevalence of Covid in the deceased.

  • Only those who are not benefiting from any other insurance programme of the Government shall be considered.

The following are the modalities for disbursing the ex-gratia amount to the eligible children who become orphans due to COVID-19:

  • Rs.10,00,000/- (Rs. Ten Lakhs only) ex-gratia sanctioned shall be deposited in any Nationalized Bank decided by the District Collector.

  • The Bond shall be handed over to Child.

  • The Child can draw the ex-gratia amount of Rs.10,00,000/- (Rs. Ten Lakhs only) after completion of 25 years of age into his/her bank account.

  • Till such time, the interest accrued on this deposit of Rs.10,00,000/- shall be transferred on a monthly/quarterly basis to his/her bank account for regular use.
