Persons wearing masks improperly will be punished in the same way as those not wearing masks.

The High Court of Punjab and Haryana recognised that people who are wearing their masks in an improper manner, leaving their mouth or nose exposed, shall be punished in the same manner as those people found to be not wearing a mask at all.

Relevant extracts of the said order have been reproduced below-

“States shall also depute officials of the municipal bodies/health authorities to ensure that mask etiquettes are followed by general public. Heads of the public as well as private institutions would sensitize the employees to wear masks in appropriate manner. Persons who wear the masks casually leaving their mouth and/or nose exposed would be treated on the same footing as those not wearing the mask at all and liable to same punitive action.”
