RT-PCR test results to be given within 24 hours.

While several citizens are aggrieved by delayed test results, the High Court of Karnataka has, on 22nd April, 2021, held that diagnostic centres will be compelled to deliver the results of RT-PCR tests within 24 hours. Strict action will be taken against those centres who violate these orders.

Relevant extracts of the said order have been reproduced below-

“In the written submissions filed today, the State Government has stated that on 21st April, 2021, a direction has been issued to all the testing laboratories to provide the test results of RT-PCR tests within 24 hours from the time of collection of the samples. 

As noted in the earlier order, the failure to provide the test results within a reasonable time is creating several serious issues. We direct the State Government to enforce the said direction scrupulously and consider of taking an action against those laboratories which are not following the direction.”
