Punitive action will be taken against private hospitals and institutions charging exorbitant fees.

The issue of certain private hospitals and medical institutions charging exorbitant fee and fleecing the public was brought to the attention of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana. An undertaking was given by the State that punitive measures shall be taken against all such institutions.

Relevant extracts of the said order have been reproduced below-

“It has been assured by all the three States that such grievance would be promptly looked into and punitive measures shall be taken against such private hospital and medical institutions, if the situation so warrants. Further, assurance has been given that surprise checks shall also be conducted by the concerned authorities on such private facilities.”
