Tamil Nadu Welfare Measures for Children who have lost parents due to COVID-19

On 11th June, 2021, the Government of Tamil Nadu introduced welfare measures for children who lost their parents due to COVID-19:

1) Children who have lost both their parents due to COVID-19 or one parent earlier and one due to COVID, shall have Rs. 5 lakh deposited in the name of the child and will be paid to them when they turn 18.

2) Preference will be given for admission in Government Homes and Hostels for children who had lost both the parents.

3) Rs. 3 lakh will be given to the surviving father or mother of the child who had lost either father or mother due to COVID-19.

4) A child who had lost both their parents and who is living with a relative/guardian is eligible for Rs. 3000/month until they turn 18
