Karnataka issues fresh guidelines ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

On 5th Sep, 2021 the State Government of Karnataka issued guidelines to ensure precaution against the spread of COVID-19 ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival which commences on September 10th, 2021. Some of these guidelines have been reproduced below-

  1. A maximum of 20 people will be allowed for the celebrations and immersion of the Ganesha idol.

  2. No celebrations will be allowed after 9 pm.

  3. No procession will be allowed for the festivities.

  4. Only eco-friendly Ganesha idols should be used for celebrations, where the distribution of food and prasad will be prohibited. 

  5. No function will take place for Ganesh Chaturthi in districts where the positivity rate is above 2%.

  6. Idols will have to be kept on designated tables after which swimmers and BBMP staffers will immerse them. 

  7. Those organising the festival should be fully vaccinated.
