MoHFW releases guidelines for management of COVID-19 in adult patients.

On 19th May, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare released the clinical guidance for management of adult COVID-19 patients. The cases have been bifurcated into three broad categories of mild, moderate and severe based on factors such as the respiratory rate.

  • Mild Disease-

    • Upper respiratory tract symptoms (&/or fever) WITHOUT shortness of breath or hypoxia

    • Home Isolation and Care

  • Moderate disease-

    • Respiratory rate >= 24/min, breathlessness

    • SpO2: 90% to <= 93% on room air

    • Admit in Ward

  • Severe disease-

    • Respiratory rate >30/min, breathlessness

    • SpO2< 90% on room air

    • Admit in ICU
