Kerala HC approves govt. order fixing rates at private hospitals

The Govt. of Kerala had, after significant deliberation, issued an order fixing the maximum rates that can be charged by private hospitals. The said chart has been given below-

Private hospitals can charge rates as per their discretion but up to a maximum of rates indicated above. The inclusions have been given below-

  • Registration Charges

  • Bed Charges

  • Nursing and Boarding Charges

  • Surgeons, Anesthetists, Medical Practitioner, Consultant Charges

  • Anesthesia, Blood Transfusions, Oxygen

  • Medicines and Drugs

  • Pathology and radiology tests: Medical procedures include essential Radiological imaging and diagnostic tests such as X-ray, USG, Hematology, pathology etc.

  • Pre and Post Hospitalization expenses: Expenses incurred for consultation, diagnostic tests and medicines before admission of the patient in the same hospital and cost of diagnostic tests and medication up to 15 days after discharge from the hospital for the same ailment

If patients treated in the private rooms are shifted to other categories like HDU, ICU without Ventilator or ICU with Ventilator, their rates as per Government Order will be applicable:
